A White House Story

1909: Anaheim White House, a national historical landmark, was skillfully crafted by Dosithe Gervais. The home exchanged hands from the Waterman family to Dr. Truxaw and his wife, Louise. The Truxaw family would call the lovely mansion their home for 50 years

1981: Jim and Barbara Stovall purchased the home from the Truxaw family in 1981. Almost immediately, new plans were drawn up for the restoration of the home as “The White House Restaurant”.

1987: Chef Bruno Serato, an Italian from San Bonifacio, Verona took over the ownership of the Anaheim White House Restaurant, which features Northern Italian Steak House cuisine.

February 2017: Anaheim White House suffers devastating fire destroying the restaurant and over $2M in damage. Plans to rebuild commence almost immediately.

November 2017: Full plan approval to restore Anaheim White House Restaurant. construction continues.

April 2018: Mission Accomplished! Anaheim White House re-opens its doors!

Caterina's Club Milestones

April 2005: Caterina’s Club was established after Bruno Serato and his mother, Caterina. It started by serving the first meal to a child, now serving in 20 cities at 62 locations reaching -3,500 children a day.

October 2006: Barilla Group, the world’s leading pasta maker, becomes the first major donor to Caterina’s Club by donating 10,000 pounds of pasta.

November 2011: Bill Handel from KFI AM 640 talk radio holds first ever PastaThon in West Wing of Anaheim White House, which has become the largest, annual fundraising event for Caterina’s Club

March 2013: Bruno creates the “Welcome Home Program” to help families living in cheap motels move into furnished apartments

June 2014: Caterina Project begins in New York, Chicago, Texas, Italy, Mexico, Los Angeles and Africa.

September 5, 2014: Mamma Caterina arrives in heaven and leaves her legacy and mission to Chef Bruno to continue serving children a hot pasta dinner

January 2016: Bruno partners with the Anaheim Union High School District and creates the Hospitality Academy where students can explore careers in restaurants, hotels, and other tourism-related fields.

May 2016: The world tour celebrating the 100th birthday of the late founder of Lamborghini sports cars makes its first pit stop in the U.S. in the form of a fundraiser to help feed and house Southern California’s “motel kids.” The event generates $350,000 for Caterina’s Club.

June 2016: Bruno is invited to speak at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City discussing how a casual visit to a Boys and Girls Club led him to an effort to feed hungry children.

August 2016: “Welcome Home Program” moves its 150th family out of a motel and into the safety and permanence of their own homes.

September 2016: The inaugural “Sir Bruno Serato Scholarship” is presented at Servite High School’s “Fund A Friar” benefit dinner.

February 2017: Caterina’s Club continues feeding the children with a full donation of a kitchen by the Christ Cathedral until the rebuild is completed.

December 2017: 7th Annual KFI PastaThon event raising over $450K and 90k pounds of pasta and sauce.
